Prayer
Sadly, more than 100,000 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded. To mark this tragedy our Tower Captain tolled the church bell 100 times on Sunday 31st Jan. and Canon Janet said a prayer (https://youtu.be/oridPxLn5J0).
Also, the last Sunday in January has become “Bell Ringers’ Sunday” to mark the contribution they make to our ministry and mission on bells large and small and to encourage people to take up a new ‘sport’ near the beginning of the year. The latter will have to wait for now, but Sarah Vernon, Tower Captain, spoke briefly about ringing after the tolling, which included 6 tolls for each decade of former Tower Captain, Andy Carr’s life. He died the last Monday in January 2019.

Use these short prayers at the beginning and end of the day

The Church of England has issued a call to prayer to the nation and details of this and some special prayers are available via https://www.churchofengland.org/resources/call-prayer-nation. The resources include a prayer for this week: Loving Father God, be with us in our distress; be with our families, friends, and neighbours, our country and our world. Give health to the sick, hope to the fearful, and comfort to mourners. Give wisdom to our frontline and key workers, insight to our Government, and patience to us all. Overcome disease with the power of your new life, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
